Job Description
The SQL Developer is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining complex relational databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance. Your role involves writing and optimizing fine-tuned queries, stored procedures, and functions that serve as the backbone for various applications and reporting tools. You will work closely with software developers and data analysts to translate business requirements into efficient database structures. The ideal candidate is a logic-driven professional who treats data integrity as a top priority and possesses the "detective" skills necessary to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in massive datasets.
Responsibilities
Database Design & Development: Ensure the best possible data normalization when creating and maintaining database schemas, tables, views, and indexes.
Query Optimization: To speed up response times and lessen server strain, examine and rework slow-running queries utilizing execution plans.
Stored Procedures & Functions: To automate intricate data processes, create reliable server-side logic
using T-SQL (SQL Server) or PL/SQL (Oracle).
ETL Procedures: To transfer data between various systems and data warehouses, create and execute Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) workflows.
Data Integrity & Security: To safeguard sensitive data and guarantee referential integrity throughout the system, use constraints, triggers, and encryption.
Troubleshooting: Find and fix database-related problems, such as blocking, deadlocks, and connectivity issues.
Backup & Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery testing and work with DBAs to make sure suitable backup plans are in place.
Skills:
SQL Mastery: Proficiency in relational database management systems (RDBMS) and SQL dialects (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or PostgreSQL).
Performance tuning: Mastery of execution plans, indexing techniques, and profilers.
The capacity to visualize intricate data linkages and convert them into logical schemas.
ETL Tools: Knowledge of programs such as Talend, Informatica, and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
