Job Description
Duties:
Demographic Entry: Correctly input or update patient data into the Practice Management (PM) system, such as name, address, insurance information, and guarantor details.
Charge Capturing: Enter service dates, provider information, and facility details by reviewing medical superbills or electronic health records (EHR).
Coding Verification: As indicated by the medical documentation, assign and confirm CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and HCPCS codes together with the relevant modifiers.
Insurance Verification: To make sure the services are covered by the patient's plan, cross-check the patient's insurance eligibility and benefits.
Claim Scrubbing: Before sending a claim
to the clearinghouse, do a preliminary "scrubbing" to find any missing data or coding errors.
Modifier Application: To ensure that payers comprehend the particulars of the medical visit and avoid needless denials, apply the necessary modifiers to codes.
Focus Skills:
Medical Coding Knowledge: Basic to intermediate comprehension of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding schemes.
Data Entry Speed: High typing speed (40+ WPM) with little errors and meticulous attention to detail.
Terminology Proficiency: Knowledge of US health insurance kinds, anatomy, and medical terminology.
Software Proficiency: MS Excel and RCM software expertise.
