Job Description
Within the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) system, the AR Analyst in Medical Billing plays a crucial role in making sure insurance companies pay healthcare providers on time and appropriately. Analyzing unpaid or denied claims, determining the underlying reasons for non-payment, and acting swiftly to recoup owed revenue are the main responsibilities of this position. The ideal applicant is a tenacious problem-solver with the analytical abilities to lower "Days in AR" and boost the company's cash flow, as well as an understanding of the intricacies of U.S. healthcare payer regulations.
Responsibilities
Claim Follow-up: Keep an eye on the AR aging report to spot claims that have gone past the typical payment window, which is typically more than 30 days. Then, use web portals or phone calls to follow up with insurance payers.
Denial Management: Examine "Electronic Remittance Advice" (ERA) and "Explanation of Benefits" (EOB) to determine the reasons for claim denials.
Appeals Processing: Write and
send official appeal letters, supported by the required medical records or policy evidence, to insurance companies for claims that were unfairly rejected.
Root Cause Analysis: To stop future losses, find recurrent trends in denials and give the front-end demo or coding teams feedback.
Payer Negotiations: Speak with insurance agents directly to settle complicated billing issues and guarantee that the right "Allowed Amount" is paid in accordance with the provider's contract.
