Job Description
A crucial member of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team, the Payment Posting Executive is in charge of the last phase of the billing cycle, which is documenting payments received from patients and insurance companies. You make sure that each amount is correctly transferred to the appropriate patient account. Deciphering Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) files takes an analytical mind. The Accounts Receivable (AR) team needs the information from your work to investigate unpaid claims. The ideal applicant has a thorough understanding of how to reconcile medical claims with financial records and is precise with numbers.

Responsibilities
ERA & Manual Posting: Manually insert payments from paper Explanation of Benefits (EOB) into the billing system and process Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) auto-postings.
Secondary Claims Management: After main insurance payments have been posted and contractual obligations have been fulfilled, identify and start secondary billing procedures.
Denial Capturing: To enable the AR team to determine the underlying reason for non-payment,

accurately record denial codes and remark codes from EOBs into the system.
Patient Payment Posting: Keep track of copays, deductibles, and co-insurance that are collected either through patient statements or at the time of treatment.
Reconciliation: To guarantee complete accuracy between the financial statements and the billing software, compare daily payment batches to bank deposits or "lockbox" reports.
Contractual adjustments, write-offs, and discounts should be applied in accordance with payer contracts and provider policies.

Skills:
EOB/ERA literacy: The ability to understand complicated insurance terminology, such as permitted amounts, co-insurance, and non-covered service
Numerical Accuracy: Outstanding attention to detail to guarantee accurate entry of figures and decimals to avoid financial disparities.
Knowledge of RCM Software: familiarity with eClinicalWorks, Waystar, Athenahealth, and Kareo.
Debits, credits, and fundamental financial reconciliation concepts are all understood in basic accounting.
