Job Description
A crucial part of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) process, the Payment Posting Executive is in charge of accurately and promptly processing payments received from patients and insurance companies. By comparing patient accounts with Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), this position guarantees the accuracy of healthcare providers' financial records. High numerical precision, knowledge of medical code modifications, and the capacity to spot underpayments or denials—which have a direct effect on the facility's cash flow—are characteristics of the perfect applicant.
Responsibilities
RA & Manual Posting: You can manually insert payments from paper EOBs into the billing system with 100% correctness and download and post electronic payments (ERAs).
EOB Analysis: Determine co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, and non-covered services by interpreting complicated EOBs.
Contractual Adjustments: In accordance with the provider's agreement with particular insurance payers, apply the appropriate adjustment codes
for contractual write-offs.
Denial Identification: During the posting process, identify denied claims and send them right away, together with the relevant remark codes, to the AR or Denials team.
Patient Payment Posting: Ensure that payments made directly to patients through credit cards, checks, or internet portals are credited to the appropriate encounter.
Reconciliation: Make sure the total payments recorded in the billing software correspond with the actual deposits in the bank account by doing a daily bank reconciliation.
Skills:
Numerical Proficiency: Excellent mathematical abilities for daily batch balancing and adjustment calculations.
Medical Billing Knowledge: Knowledge of common remark codes (CO, PI, OA) and HIPAA standards.
Attention to Detail: The capacity to identify differences between the amount allowed and the amount billed.
Software expertise: Knowledge of medical billing programs such as eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Athena, or Epic.
