Job Description
Duties:
ERA & Manual Posting: When required, manually enter payments from paper EOBs and import Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) files for automated posting.
Handling Adjustments: Utilize discounts, write-offs, and contractual adjustments in accordance with the provider's contract with particular insurance companies.
Denial Logging: Accurately recognize and record the remittance's denial codes, which will set off the AR or Denial Management team's subsequent action.
Patient Responsibility Allocation: Precisely move any outstanding amounts to the patient's account for the purpose of secondary billing or the creation of statements.
Secondary Billing Trigger: Once the original payer has reacted, identify
and flag claims that need to be billed to secondary or tertiary insurance.
Credit Balance Analysis: Determine overpayments and, in accordance with business policy, assign credits to outstanding accounts or start the refund process.
Focus Skills:
Proficiency in reading and analyzing intricate financial paperwork from many payers.
Excellent data entry abilities with almost zero error rates in financial computations are examples of numerical accuracy.
Accounting fundamentals: Knowledge of credits, debits, and fundamental reconciliation concepts.
Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Practice Management (PM) software.
