Job Description
Converting medical services into billable charges is the responsibility of the Charge Entry Executive, a crucial component in the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) chain. This position entails carefully entering patient visit information into the billing system, including procedural (CPT) and diagnostic (ICD) codes. The executive must make sure that all entries are in compliance with insurance requirements and free of data entry errors because the correctness of the "Charge" directly influences the revenue collected by the healthcare provider. The ideal applicant is fast, accurate, and has a basic understanding of U.S. healthcare payment and medical coding.
Responsibilities
Charge Capturing: Examine medical records or superbills to record and input patient encounter information, such as the date of service, the name of the provider, and the location of the service.
Coding Entry: To guarantee that the claim accurately reflects the entire extent of the medical care, enter ICD-10 and CPT codes along with the necessary modifiers.
Audit
& Verification: To make sure the patient is qualified for the services billed, cross-check the entered costs with the "Demographics" and insurance details.
Volume Management: To reach daily "Charge per Hour" requirements, manage high-volume data entry jobs while upholding stringent accuracy standards.
Error Correction: Before the claim is sent to the insurance payer, find and fix any "Edits" or "Pre-billing" mistakes that the program has identified.
Skills:
Alphanumeric Precision: The extraordinary capacity to input complicated numbers and codes without making transposition mistakes.
Medical Terminology: To accurately interpret superbills, one must have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical specializations.
Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Practice Management Systems (PMS) such as NextGen, eClinicalWorks, and Epic.
Analytical Ability: The capacity to spot missing or contradicting information that can cause a claim to be denied.
