Duties:
Insurance Follow-up: Make proactive calls to insurance providers to inquire on the status of unresolved claims.
Denial Management: Examine rejected claims, determine the underlying reason for the rejection, and take corrective measures to submit them again.
Appeals Processing: For claims that have been unjustly rejected or underpaid, draft and submit official appeal letters.
Payment Posting Oversight: Make that the billing system appropriately reflects patient obligations and insurance payments.
Communication: Work together with the Charge Entry and Medical Coding teams to address persistent mistakes and raise the "clean rate" of claims.
Documentation:
Keep thorough and precise records of all conversations with insurance agents in the billing software.
Focus Skills:
US Healthcare Knowledge: Good knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, and HIPAA laws.
Fluency in English: Good oral communication skills with a neutral accent are necessary for productive interactions with insurance adjusters in the United States.
Analytical Thinking: Capacity to decipher Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
Persistence: Excellent negotiating abilities to guarantee that claims are handled and reimbursed in accordance with the provider's contract.
