As the main gatekeeper for quality, it is your responsibility to conduct physical inspections, observe tests, and confirm that all equipment is installed correctly prior to commissioning. You will be in charge of finding non-conformities and making sure the production team or contractor follows the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and Quality Control Plan (QCP).
Responsibilities
Installation Inspection: Verify that electrical systems (transformers, switchgear, cabling) and instrumentation systems (transmitters, control valves, tubing) physically match the Approved for Construction (AFC) drawings.
ITP Management: Ensure that all "Hold," "Witness," and "Review" points are rigorously adhered to by following and approving the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) milestones.
Testing
Oversight: Observe and confirm important tests such the High Voltage (Hi-Pot), Continuity, Loop, and Insulation Resistance (Megger) tests.
Ex/ATEX Compliance: Verify that electrical equipment in dangerous locations complies with ATEX/IECEx requirements, paying particular attention to flameproof enclosures and intrinsically safe circuits.
Documentation Control: Examine and assemble the Quality Dossier, which includes "As-Built" drawings, test sheets, and Material Test Reports (MTR).
Skills:
Technical Knowledge: A thorough comprehension of instruments and electrical codes.
Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Loop Folders, and P&IDs.
Detail Orientation: The capacity to identify little installation mistakes that could cause a system failure, such as faulty grounding or cable glanding.
