Responsibilities:
Machine Operation: Configure and run VMC machines for a variety of tasks, including boring, drilling, milling, and tapping.
Tooling Setup: Make sure the right inserts or cutters are utilized for the material, load tools into the Automatic Tool Changer (ATC), and adjust tool length offsets.
Workpiece loading: Use dial indicators or edge finders to secure raw blocks or castings into fixtures or vices while making sure they are properly aligned.
Program Execution: To make
sure there are no tool collisions, call up the appropriate NC programs from the controller and "single-block" or dry-run the first section.
Verify quality by comparing dimensions with engineering drawings using precise tools.
In-Process Adjustments: Keep an eye on the machining process and modify feed rates, spindle speeds, or tool offsets to account for material hardness or tool wear.
Required Skills:
Blueprint Proficiency: Excellent comprehension of GD&T symbols (flatness, parallelism, etc.) and 2D technical drawings.
Technical Math: Capacity to compute fundamental dimensions and comprehend Cartesian coordinates
Machine Knowledge: Understanding how a vertical spindle moves and how automatic tool changers work.
Experience: 0 to 3 yrs
