The task of converting a Vertical Machining Center from a static to an active production environment falls to the high-precision technical position of VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Setter. Installing the proper fixtures, loading programmed tools, and "proving out" the code to make sure the first component produced is flawless are all part of your main task when setting up the machine for new operations. By serving as a liaison between the programmer and the operator, you guarantee the stability, safety, and speed and quality optimization of the machining process.
A mechanical setup expert with a thorough understanding of milling operations and precise measurement is the perfect candidate.
Key Skills:
Accurate measurement: High level competence with air gauges, height gauges, bore gauges, and micrometers.
Mechanical Setup: Excellent comprehension of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and the ability to read 2D/3D engineering drawings.
Proficiency with VMC control interfaces (Fanuc, Haas, Mitsubishi, or Siemens) is a prerequisite for control familiarity.
Solving problems: The capacity to change tool paths or depth of cut during setup using G-code (basic edits).
Experience: 3 to 6 Yrs
