Full Description
VMC Setter Our Quality Depends by Your Configuration
Job Description
The physical setup and calibration of vertical milling machines for new production batches is the responsibility of the specialized technical position known as the VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Setter. By precisely mounting fixtures, choosing the appropriate cutting tools, and setting work and tool offsets, your main objective is to convert the CNC program into a functional physical environment. Before mass production starts, you are the last quality checker, making sure the "first-off" part satisfies all surface finish and dimensional specifications. The ideal applicant is well-versed in spindle behavior, precision measurement, and vertical machining mechanics.
Responsibilities
Machine & Workholding Setup: Using dial indicators, make sure that the bespoke jigs, modular fixtures, or suitable vises are installed on the VMC table in exact alignment.
Setting Offsets: Use touch probes or slip gauges to compute and enter Work Coordinate Offsets and Tool Length/Diameter Offsets.
Program Verification: To look for any collisions between
the spindle, tool, and clamping devices, run the VMC program dry.
First-Article Production: Use precision tools such as height gauges, bore gauges, and micrometers to run the first piece in a batch and conduct a comprehensive inspection.
Tool Life Management: Keep an eye on tool wear when setting up and advise workers when to replace inserts or tools.
Coolant and Lubrication: To guarantee the best possible chip evacuation and thermal stability, set up coolant nozzles and through-spindle cooling systems.
Skills:
Expertise with Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or Mitsubishi VMC controllers is a sign of technical proficiency.
Metrology: The skillful use of micrometers, coordinate measurement data, and dial test indicators (DTI).
Mechanical aptitude: thorough knowledge of the geometry of milling tools, including drills, taps, end mills, and face mills.
Reading blueprints: Proficient in deciphering intricate GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
We invite you to apply and explore this exciting opportunity!
