The Road to Management Jobs for Production Engineers
Job Description
Duties:
Process Planning & Scheduling: Create and carry out production plans, making sure that personnel, supplies, and equipment are allotted to achieve daily goals.
Workflow Optimization: Use "Line Balancing" strategies to increase cycle times after analyzing the manufacturing line to find bottlenecks.
Lean & Continuous Improvement: To cut down on operational waste, spearhead Kaizen projects and apply 5S, Kanban, and Just-In-Time (JIT) techniques.
Quality Assurance: Use Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques, such as the "Fishbone" diagram, to monitor production quality and take remedial actions for problems.
Coordination of Maintenance: Work together with the maintenance division to manage Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and
reduce machine downtime.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Make sure all operators are trained and compliant by creating and updating SOPs for different industrial processes.
Focus Skills:
Technical expertise: a solid understanding of production procedures, such as casting, fabrication, machining, and assembly.
Analytical Capability: Expertise in data-driven decision-making and statistical process control (SPC).
Leadership: The capacity to oversee sizable groups of technicians and operators under time constraints.
Software literacy includes knowledge of basic AutoCAD/SolidWorks for layout planning, Microsoft Excel for reporting, and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle).
