Sr Engineer for SMT Manufacture and Facility Efficiency
Job Description
In an injection molding factory, the Senior Engineer-SMT is a specialist position that incorporates electronic components onto molded plastic products. This position is in charge of managing the automated assembly line where electronic parts are integrated into plastic housings or directly placed onto PCBs. The objective is to minimize component waste, maintain stringent quality requirements, and guarantee high-speed, high-precision assembly.

Responsibilities
Line Programming & Setup: Program and optimize SMT pick-and-place machines, solder paste printers, and Reflow Ovens to achieve maximum throughput and placement accuracy.
Process Optimization: Manage the "Solder Profile" for various board types, ensuring optimal thermal transitions in the reflow zone to prevent defects like tombstoning or cold solder joints.
Machine Maintenance: Lead the preventive and predictive maintenance of high-precision

equipment, including feeders, nozzles, and vision systems.
Quality Control (AOI/SPI): Oversee AOI and SPI results to identify and rectify process drifts in real-time.
Stencil Management: Design and maintain SMT stencils, ensuring proper aperture design for consistent solder paste volume.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Coordinate with the design team for DFM feedback on PCB layouts to improve assembly yield.
Waste Reduction: Monitor and reduce component "reject" rates and solder paste wastage, implementing Lean tools like 5S on the SMT floor.

Skills:
thorough understanding of SMT equipment.
proficiency with SMT process variables, such as placement force, squeegee pressure, and stencil thickness.
the ability to comprehend IPC standards and read electronic diagrams.
practical knowledge of reflow profiling instruments.
