Sr Engineer Tooling Specialty Fostering Brilliance in Product
Job Description
Duties:
Complex Tooling Architecture: Lead the design of intricate multi-cavity injection moulds, progressive press tools, or high-pressure die-casting dies using UG NX, Catia, or SolidWorks.
Advanced Simulation Leadership: Interpret and validate complex Moldflow or Forming simulations to optimize gate locations, cooling circuits, and venting, ensuring defect-free production.
Technical Review & Approval: Conduct rigorous design reviews of assemblies created by junior engineers, ensuring adherence to GD&T standards and internal design guidelines.
Project Management: Coordinate with the NPD and Tool Room teams to track tooling timelines from the "Design Freeze" stage to the final "T3 Trial."
Vendor Management: Review and approve tool designs submitted by external vendors, ensuring they meet the company’s technical specifications
and longevity requirements.
Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for tool cost reduction through part consolidation, hot runner optimization, or the use of standardized components.
RCA: Provide high-level technical support for chronic tooling issues on the production floor, designing permanent engineering solutions for recurring failures.
Focus Skills:
Expert CAD/CAM/CAE: Mastery of 3D parametric modelling and surface design.
Advanced GD&T: Deep understanding of stack-up analysis and tolerance impact on tool functionality.
Manufacturing Knowledge: Thorough understanding of VMC, EDM, Wire-cut, and 5-axis machining constraints.
Leadership: Ability to lead a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and present technical designs to stakeholders.
