Job Description
Duties:
Lathe Machine Operation: To accomplish turning, facing, threading, boring, and knurling operations, set up and run manual, capstan, or turret lathes.
Blueprint Reading: To comprehend dimensions, tolerances, and the necessary order of operations, interpret technical drawings and job cards.
Tool Selection and Grinding: For certain machining jobs, choose the proper cutting tools (HSS or Carbide) and grind them to the necessary angles.
Precision Measurement: To ensure that completed items meet the necessary standards, use measuring tools like dial gauges, micrometers, and vernier calipers.
Workpiece Mounting: Use chucks, collets, or faceplates to firmly secure raw materials, making sure to center
them precisely to avoid vibration or error.
Speed and Feed Adjustment: Depending on the kind of material and desired surface finish, determine and establish the appropriate spindle speeds and feed rates.
Focus Skills:
Technical Proficiency: Expert understanding of different cutting parameters and lathe operations.
Mathematical aptitude: the ability to compute dimensions and angles using fundamental geometry and arithmetic.
Manual dexterity: The ability to fine-tune machine controls with a steady hand and excellent coordination.
Detail Orientation: The capacity to continuously maintain precise tolerances, frequently within microns.
