Quality Engineer Consistency Meets Productivity Task
Job Description
Duties:
Quality Planning & Control Plans: For every molded part, create and maintain Control Plans, Inspection Standards, and Boundary Samples.
Metrology & Dimensional Analysis: To confirm crucial dimensions against 2D/3D designs, take high-precision measurements with profile projectors, CMMs, and VMMs.
Defect Troubleshooting: Find and classify molding flaws, then collaborate with the process engineer to change the tool or machine settings.
New Product Development: Oversee the APQP and PPAP processes for new molds, making sure that T0/T1 samples satisfy client specifications.
Material Validation: Before production starts, supervise the testing of batches of raw resin to guarantee material uniformity.
Root Cause Analysis:
Lead 8D investigations of internal rejections or customer complaints, putting in place long-term corrective measures to stop recurrence.
Focus Skills:
Plastic Metrology Expertise: Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and proficiency with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
Understanding the "Moulding Window" and how factors like hold pressure and melt temperature affect part faults is essential for defect analysis.
Statistical Mastery: Skilled application of Minitab or comparable tools for DOE analysis and capability evaluations.
Industry Standards: Knowledge of IATF 16949 (automotive), ISO 9001, or ISO 13485 (medical) standards.
