NPD Manager Pushing Discovery from Idea to Production
Job Description:
Leading the transfer of new products from the original concept/design stage to mass production is the responsibility of the NPD Manager. This position serves as the main liaison between the customer, tool design, tool room, and production departments in the injection molding sector. The NPD Manager makes sure that all new molds and plastic parts are created within the project budget, adhere to strict quality standards, and are introduced on schedule. This is a high-impact position that calls for a combination of project management and technical engineering knowledge.
Key Duties:
Project Lifecycle Management: Lead the entire development process using APQP frameworks, ensuring all milestones from design freeze to SOP are met.
Technical Feasibility & DFM: Conduct detailed "Design for Manufacturing" (DFM) reviews to identify potential moulding issues like sink marks,
air traps, or warpage before tool construction begins.
Tooling Coordination: Oversee the development of new moulds, managing the relationship between internal or external tool rooms and ensuring that the tool construction aligns with the final product requirements.
Mould Trials & Validation: Lead T0, T1, and T2 trials. Analyze trial samples and provide technical inputs for tool fine-tuning until "Golden Samples" are achieved.
PPAP Documentation: Oversee the preparation of the PPAP package, including FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and Dimensional Reports.
Cost & Budget Management: Track project costs, including tooling investment and raw material expenses, ensuring the project remains financially viable.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Facilitate communication between Sales and Production.
