Job Description:
In order to create precise metal or plastic components, the Lathe Engineer—also known as a Manual or CNC Turner—is in charge of setting up, running, and maintaining lathe machines. In order to perform this job, raw materials must be shaped and sized according to engineering criteria and technical blueprints. In order to guarantee that every manufactured part satisfies strict quality standards, the ideal applicant has a thorough understanding of cutting speeds, feed rates, and tool geometries. You are essential to the manufacturing of key parts for sectors including general engineering, automotive, and aerospace, whether you are programming CNC lathes or running manual engine lathes.
Key Duties:
Machine Setup: Align and secure workpieces for machining; choose and install the proper cutting tools, chucks, and fixtures.
Operation: Use
manual or CNC lathe equipment to carry out a variety of turning operations, such as facing, boring, threading, knurling, and tapering.
Blueprint Interpretation: Examine and decipher intricate engineering drawings, making sure that all measurements and tolerances are adhered to.
Precision Measurement: To confirm the correctness of the completed parts, use precision tools like dial indicators, vernier calipers, and micrometers.
Programming: To increase machining accuracy and efficiency, write, modify, and optimize G-code and M-code programs.
Maintenance: Identify and report any mechanical wear or anomalies; lubricate and clean the machine on a daily basis.
Quality: Uphold a zero-defect mentality and follow all workshop safety procedures, such as using PPE and safety guards.
