Industrial Designer Team SolidWorks Design Engineer
Job Description
Duties:
3D Parametric Modeling: Use SolidWorks to create intricate components and large-scale assemblies, making sure that every feature is completely constrained and logically organized in the Design Tree.
Design for Manufacturing: To save production costs, reduce the number of parts, and streamline assembly processes, apply DFM and Design for Assembly concepts.
Detailed Engineering Drawings: Generate 2D production drawings including orthographic views, sections, and detailed views with precise use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
BOM & Documentation: Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials, engineering change notes, and technical specifications within a PDM/PLM system.
Sheet Metal & Weldments: Create specialty parts with the SolidWorks Sheet
Metal and Weldment modules, which offer flat templates for waterjet or laser cutting.
Vendor & Shop Floor Liaison: Work together to optimize tooling requirements and address design questions with toolmakers, machinists, and outside vendors.
Focus Skills:
SolidWorks Mastery: 3D modeling, surfacing, and assembly management expertise; CSWP or CSWE certification is highly sought for.
Mechanical Engineering: Strong understanding of materials, mechanics, and fabrication techniques (casting, molding, machining).
Technical Precision: Proficiency with international drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
Software Synergy: Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management) systems and basic ERP integration.
