Job Description
Duties:
Material Preparation: Use clamps, jigs, and fixtures to position and secure workpieces; clean, grind, and prepare metal surfaces to be joined.
Welding Execution: Use SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) or other manual or semi-automated welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
Blueprint Interpretation: To ascertain the necessary weld type, size, and arrangement, read and comprehend technical drawings and welding symbols.
Equipment Calibration: Depending on the thickness and kind of metal being welded, adjust the welding machine's amperage, voltage, and polarity.
Quality Inspection: Use gauges to confirm weld dimensions and visually inspect completed welds for flaws such porosity, undercut, or
slag inclusions.
Safety and Maintenance: Maintain power supplies, cables, and welding torches; closely follow safety procedures, such as wearing personal protective equipment.
Focus Skills:
Technical Proficiency: ARC/Stick welding expertise and familiarity with various electrode types.
Mechanical aptitude is the capacity to use power tools for metalworking, such as drills and grinders.
Physical stamina: The ability to move large metal objects, operate in hot conditions, and keep hands steady for extended periods of time.
Attention to Detail: Accurately adhering to cooling and heat-treatment protocols to avoid metal deformation.
