Responsibilities:
System Design & Layout: Use CAD software to create electrical schematics, blueprints, and wire diagrams for control, lighting, and power distribution systems.
Manage the installation and upkeep of high- and low-voltage systems, such as transformers, switchgear, and UPS systems.
PLCs, VFDs (variable frequency drives), and SCADA systems can be programmed and troubleshooted to optimize industrial processes.
Testing and Commissioning: Before handing over systems, make sure they fulfill operating standards by conducting thorough electrical tests.
Safety and Compliance:
Verify that all installations follow local safety laws, IEEE standards, and national electrical codes.
Project management: Work with mechanical and civil engineers to incorporate electrical systems into bigger manufacturing or building projects.
Energy auditing: Examine trends in energy use and apply Power Factor Correction or "Green Energy" solutions to lower operating expenses.
Required Skills:
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in circuit analysis and electrical theory, including Kirchhoff's and Ohm's laws
Software literacy is the ability to use MATLAB/Simulink, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.
Troubleshooting: Skilled application of diagnostic instruments such as power quality analyzers, oscilloscopes, and meggers.
Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of grounding/earthing systems and Arc Flash safety.
