Job Description
Duties:
Machine Operation: To execute turning, tapering, eccentric turning, and knurling, set up and run a variety of lathe machines.
Blueprint Reading: To comprehend dimensions, tolerances, and finishing specifications, analyze technical drawings and job cards.
Tool Selection and Grinding: For particular machining operations, choose the appropriate cutting tools (HSS or Carbide) and grind them to the necessary angles.
Workpiece Setup: To avoid "run-out" or vibrations, secure raw materials in the chuck or between centers while making sure they are perfectly aligned.
Threading: Determine gear ratios and configure the device to cut several kinds of threads (Metric, BSW, Acme,
etc.).
Maintenance: To ensure precision, clean and lubricate the lathe every day and look for wear and tear on the bed and lead screw.
Focus Skills:
Technical Proficiency: In-depth understanding of lathe operations and a variety of cutting speeds and feeds for different metals (brass, iron, steel, and aluminum).
Mathematical Skills: The capacity to compute thread pitching and taper turning.
Attention to Detail: A precision-oriented approach to obtain precise diameters and flawless surface finishes.
Physical stamina: The capacity to manage heavy metal workpieces and stand for extended periods of time.
