Controlling a Forklift to Move Materials and Production
Job Description
A vital component of the logistics and warehousing team, the forklift operator is in charge of the effective and safe transportation of products, supplies, and machinery. Your main responsibility is to use industrial powered trucks to load, unload, and stack large items while strictly adhering to safety regulations. By making sure that inventory is positioned correctly and that shipments are prepared on schedule, you are in charge of preserving the supply chain's flow. A highly vigilant professional with outstanding spatial awareness, a current operator's license, and a "safety-first" mentality is the ideal candidate.
Responsibilities
Palletized items should be loaded and unloaded safely from shipping containers or trailers into the appropriate warehousing areas.
Stacking and High-Reach Operations: Make sure loads are stable and balanced by precisely placing goods onto high-bay racking systems.
Inventory management: Track the flow of commodities and update stock positions in real-time
with handheld scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS).
Pre-Operational Inspections: Check the vehicle's hydraulic fluids, tire pressure, brakes, and battery and fuel levels every day.
Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA (or local equivalent) regulations, such as using horns at intersections and adhering to the facility's safe speed limits.
Maintenance Reporting: To avoid workplace mishaps, promptly detect and notify the supervisor of any mechanical issues or damage.
Skills:
Spatial awareness: ability to effectively judge distances and maneuver through narrow aisles while toting heavy objects.
Physical Coordination: Outstanding hand-eye coordination to simultaneously operate steering, pedals, and levers.
Mechanical aptitude: the fundamental knowledge of how industrial machinery works to carry out simple troubleshooting.
The ability to accurately read shipment labels, SKU numbers, and warehouse coordinates
