A high-level technical expert, the CNC Setter is in charge of the crucial step that separates a "machine at rest" from "full production." Setting up CNC lathes or turning centers to create high-precision items based on updated engineering drawings is your main responsibility. While an operator runs the machine, you are the expert who installs the chuck jaws, sets the tools, loads the program, and refines the process until the first part is perfect. As the "technical anchor" of the machine shop, you
make sure that setups are quick, secure, and able to maintain micron tolerances.
Key Skills:
G-Code/M-Code Mastery: Proficient at reading and manually editing programs on controllers like Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas.
Precision Metrology: Expertise in measuring tolerances with precision instruments.
Deep comprehension of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), including Run-out, Cylindricity, and Position, is required for blueprint interpretation.
Mechanical aptitude: a solid grasp of material parameters, insert grades, and metal cutting principles.
Experience: 3 to 6 yrs
