CNC Setter Shifting Consistency into Brilliance
Job Description
Duties:
Machine Setup & Changeover: For new production runs, install and align specialized tools, fixtures, and attachments.
Programming and Editing: Upload CNC programs, run "Dry Runs" on-site to check for collisions, and optimize G-code and M-code as needed.
Tooling Management: Determine tool offsets and choose the suitable cutting tools based on material characteristics.
First-Off Inspection: Make the first part of a batch and thoroughly check it to make sure it exactly follows the plan.
Process Optimization: To increase cycle times and tool life without sacrificing part quality, modify feeds, speeds, and coolant flow.
Troubleshooting: Identify intricate manufacturing mistakes and mechanical problems
that arise during setup.
Fixture Design/Selection: To guarantee part stability and reproducibility, determine and put into practice the most effective work-holding solutions.
Focus Skills:
Expert knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas control systems is considered advanced CNC knowledge.
Precision measurement requires proficiency with height gauges, bore gauges, micrometers, and CMM data interpretation.
Proficiency in deciphering intricate GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols is known as "Blue-Print Mastery."
Analytical Thinking: The capacity to anticipate possible machining problems and visualize tool pathways.
