Job Description
Duties:
Machine Preparation: To ascertain the necessary tools, fixtures, and machine sequences, read and comprehend setup documents and technical drawings.
Tooling & Offsets: Choose, put together, and position cutting tools; use probes or manual touching techniques to adjust tool diameter and length.
Workholding Setup: Use dial indications to make sure that run-out is within allowable bounds after installing and aligning vises, chucks, bespoke jigs, or tombstone fixtures.
Program Loading & Editing: Use DNC or USB to upload CNC programs (G-code); run "single-block" and dry runs to check tool paths and avoid crashes.
First-Off Inspection: Make the first part of a batch and use height gauges, micrometers,
or CMMs to do a comprehensive dimensional inspection.
Troubleshooting: Identify and fix setup-related problems include chip evacuation, dimensional drift, and clatter.
Focus Skills:
Technical expertise: in-depth understanding of turning centers and their corresponding controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas) or CNC milling (VMC/HMC).
Blueprint Proficiency: The ability to use GD&T concepts and understand intricate engineering drawings.
Precision Measurement: Proficiency with data recording and high-precision measuring devices.
The capacity to envisage the machining process and spot possible interference or safety hazards before they arise
