CNC Setter Establish a Perfect Technical Future
Job Description
Duties:
Machine Setup & Configuration: Choose and install the appropriate work-holding devices (vices, fixtures, chucks) and cutting tools by interpreting technical drawings and setup papers.
Tool Offsetting: To ensure that the machine is aware of the precise location of each cutting edge, adjust tool length and diameter offsets manually or with touch probes.
Program Verification: To confirm that the tool paths are precise and safe, upload CNC programs (G-code) and run "Dry Runs" or "Single Block" executions.
First Article Inspection (FAI): Use precise instruments to machine the first part of a new batch and produce a dimensional layout to ensure it satisfies all requirements.
Process Optimization: To enhance surface finish, shorten cycle times, and prolong the life of
pricey cutting tools, modify feeds, speeds, and coolant flow.
Focus Skills:
Advanced Blueprint Reading: The capacity to see 3D components from 2D printouts and a thorough understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
The ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs at the controller (Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, etc.).
Metrology expertise is the ability to use high-precision measuring instruments, such as height masters, air gauges, and bore gauges.
Mechanical Logic: A thorough comprehension of "Speeds and Feeds" for different materials (such as titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum).
The capacity to "think like the machine" in order to determine why a part is out of tolerance.
