Responsibilities:
Machine setup includes aligning and securing workpieces for machining as well as choosing and installing the proper chucks, fixtures, and cutting tools.
Operation: Use manual or CNC lathe machines to perform a variety of turning operations, such as facing, boring, threading, knurling, and tapering.
Blueprint Interpretation: Make sure that all measurements and tolerances are closely adhered to by carefully reading and interpreting intricate engineering drawings.
Precision Measurement: To confirm the correctness of the completed parts, use precision tools including micrometers, vernier calipers,
and dial indicators.
Programming: Create, modify, and enhance G-code and M-code programs to increase the precision and efficiency of machining.
Maintenance: Make sure the machine is regularly cleaned and lubricated every day. Look for and report any mechanical wear or abnormalities.
Quality: Adhere to all workshop safety procedures, including the use of PPE and safety guards, and keep a zero-defect mentality.
Required Skills:
Technical Mastery: a solid understanding of tool grinding and sharpening combined with a track record of manual or CNC turning.
Calculating measurements, angles, and tolerances is a sign of mathematical proficiency.
Detail Orientation: Maintaining accuracy over extended machining cycles requires a high degree of focus.
The ability to troubleshoot machining problems like chatter, tool wear, or dimensional errors.
