Job Description
Duties:
To fuse metal components in different places, employ manual arc welding.
Depending on the type and thickness of the metal, choose the appropriate electrodes and modify the welding machine's parameters.
Before welding, workpieces should be cleaned and prepared by removing rust, scale, and slag with grinders, wire brushes, or chemical baths.
To ascertain the necessary weld size, type, and position, interpret technical drawings, layouts, and welding symbols.
Before the final weld, "tack welding" is used to keep parts in place while components are aligned using clamps, jigs, and fixtures.
Use gauges to confirm measurements and visually check completed welds for flaws including porosity,
undercut, fractures, or incomplete penetration.
To guarantee a clean finish, use wire brushes and chipping hammers to remove slag and spatter from completed welds.
Focus Skills:
Manual Dexterity: Excellent steady-hand control to keep the travel speed and arc length constant.
Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of various electrode types (such as E6010 and E7018) and their particular uses.
Basics of Metallurgy: Understanding how various metals respond to heat and how to avoid deformation or warping.
Physical stamina: The capacity to operate for extended periods of time in cramped areas, at heights, or in physically taxing situations.
