Job Description
The ARC Welder is a professional tradesman who joins metal components using a variety of electric arc welding techniques, most commonly Shielded Metal Arc Welding, or SMAW. In structural fabrication, repair, and manufacture, you play a crucial role in making sure that each weld penetration and bead profile complies with safety regulations and engineering specifications. You will work with a variety of metals, such as alloys, carbon steel, and stainless steel, turning raw materials into long-lasting structures. The ideal applicant has a strong grasp of metallurgy, exceptional hand-eye coordination, and an unwavering dedication to safety in high-temperature settings.
Responsibilities
Welding Operations: Use electric arc equipment to perform excellent welding in a variety of locations.
Blueprint & WPS Interpretation: To ascertain the appropriate electrode type, current, and voltage settings, read and comprehend technical drawings and welding procedure specifications.
Metal Preparation: Before welding, clean, grind, and bevel workpieces to guarantee a good fit and get
rid of impurities like grease, scale, and rust.
Equipment maintenance includes setting up and maintaining welding machines, regulating voltage and amperage, inspecting cables for damage, and making sure that the grounding is correct.
Visually check completed welds for typical flaws including porosity, undercut, slag inclusion, or fractures. To guarantee dimensional accuracy, take simple measurements.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety regulations, which include wearing specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) and keeping restricted rooms properly ventilated.
Skills:
Technical Mastery: Expertise in Stick (SMAW) welding; familiarity with MIG/TIG is advantageous.
The ability to read and comprehend common welding symbols on blueprints.
Physical stamina: The capacity to operate in physically taxing conditions, such as hot, high altitudes, or confined areas.
Paying close attention to details: To guarantee weld integrity, maintain a constant travel speed and a stable arc.
