Summary of Position:
The primary responsibility of a server is to provide our guests with outstanding food, beverages and service in a warm and friendly casual atmosphere. A professional server will be thoroughly familiar with the product, server sequence, guidelines to quality service, financial responsibilities and merchandising and sales techniques. He / she will work as a team with other staff members towards the common goal of making each guest at Stone Canyon a repeat guest.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.) Represent Restaurant standards through appearance and a positive, cooperative attitude toward guests and fellow employees.
2.) Make sure that all tables are clean and properly set. Make sure chairs are clean.
3.) Keep server stations clean and stocked throughout your shift.
4.) Encourage extra sales through suggestive selling and upgrades in items such as liquor, wine, appetizers and desserts.
5.) Learn all menu items (portion sizes, presentation, how they are prepared), so that they can explain items to our guests.
6.) Prompt, efficient guest oriented service with attention to guest detail and presentation of product.
7.) Take down orders and ring them up efficiently with attention to detail.
8.) Serve food with
guest oriented detail.
9.) Perform general cleaning duties nightly and weekly as instructed by the manager.
10.) Proper enforcement of all local, state and federal laws concerning the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Always ask for ID from those who look under 25.
11.) Make sure all opening and closing procedures are followed and finished before leaving.
12.) Continually use table maintenance and pre-bus your tables throughout their shift.
13.) Clean and balance table bases at beginning of shift and throughout their shift.
14.) Make coffee and tea for the restaurant and bar.
15.) Responsible for clean floors and walls in the restaurant.
16.) Learn all garnishes on alcoholic beverages. Always use beverage napkin under drinks.
17.) Learn wines, how to serve them and how to pair them with food items.
18.) Fill service station ice bins throughout their shift.
19.) Responsible for silverware roll-ups and filling of condiments (salt, pepper, red peppers, parmesan and sugar caddies) prior to leaving.
20.) Financial reconciliation of shift sales.
Experience:
Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not necessary.
Good communication and teamwork skills are important.
