Position Overview

This position is responsible to support development and execution of Exterior & Interior components sourcing strategies, driving cost reductions, supply base management, supplier consolidation and negotiating supply agreements. The Category Manager’s key activities include leading strategic sourcing activities for future programs, management of cost reduction projects with suppliers on existing programs, supplier contract negotiations and administration, execution of comprehensive commercial agreements, and overall supplier performance management.



This Category Manager role will co-lead the CMT (Category Management Team) on all Class 4/5 product suppliers working with Product Development counterparts, working cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with program management, quality, manufacturing, sales & marketing, risk management, finance, logistics, product pricing, supply chain and more.



Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Work with Exterior CMT and Interior CMT to develop and execute a category sourcing strategy
Own commercial relationship with Class 4/5 product suppliers
Build and manage relationships with cross functional team members and management
Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met
Researching industry trends, global markets, benchmark data, and understand underlying cost drivers
Lead strategic sourcing decisions for both new product launches as well as current business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities
Analyze category spend to identify and develop new cost reduction opportunities using variety of procurement levers including competitive bidding, global sourcing, negotiation, technology, supply chain/footprint optimization, target costing, aftermarket service parts,

etc.
Work with Navistar legal group to execute a variety of legal agreements such as Non-disclosure, Comprehensive Supply, Development, or Warranty Agreements, to govern commercial relationships within supply base
Maintain communication to Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and Engineering customers and escalate issues when needed – know who, when, and how to communicate effectively with all Stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
At least 8 years of purchasing/procurement experience
At least 1 year of lead experience
OR

Master’s degree
At least 6 years of purchasing/procurement experience
At least 1 year of lead experience
OR

At least 10 years of purchasing/procurement experience
At least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

Procurement background with experience in Exterior & Interior components especially in Plastic Injection Molding and Compression molding processes in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries
Strategy development
Manufacturing background a plus
Ability to read, understand, and execute contracts
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience with sourcing components, discovering competitive options and negotiating deals
Ability to effectively cope with change and to handle ambiguity
Excellent time management skills – can organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific deadlines
